President Mnangagwa leaves for Namibia

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has left Harare for Windhoek, Namibia, to attend the state funeral of the late Namibian founding President, Dr Sam Nujoma, whose burial is set for this Saturday.

President Mnangagwa, who is accompanied by Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Professor Amon Murwira, was seen off at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport by the two Vice Presidents, General Retired Dr Constantino Chiwenga and Cde Kembo Mohadi, Cabinet Ministers, senior government officials and service chiefs.

Dr Nujoma died on February 8, at a hospital in Windhoek.

He was 95.

His burial is set for Saturday in the country’s capital, Windhoek.

He served Namibia as President between 1990 and 2005 and was among the few remaining African revolutionaries of his time.

Vice President General Retired Dr Constantino Chiwenga is the Acting President.
