PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has declared the Kwekwe accident which claimed 12 lives this Tuesday a national disaster.
The move paves way for government to assist in the burial of the accident victims as well as offer support to the hospitalised.
In his condolence message, President Mnangagwa said his heart goes to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in the horrific accident.
The President noted that more still needs to be done to arrest the ever-spiralling fatalities on the country’s roads.
The head of state said safe traffic conduct is the duty of all road uses, imploring the public to support law enforcement agencies to tame the traffic jungle by calling out reckless road users.
