THE President, Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa, has appointed Justice Elizabeth Gwaunza as the Chief Justice of Zimbabwe with effect from May 15.
In a statement, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Martin Rushwaya said the appointment was done in terms of section 180 of the Constitution.
Justice Gwaunza served as the Deputy Chief Justice since March 29, 2018 and possesses extensive judicial experience.
Dr Rushwaya also announced the appointment of Justice Paddington Garwe as the Deputy Chief Justice.
Justice Garwe served as a judge of the Constitutional Court since May 20, 2021.
