ZANU PF President and First Secretary, Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa, says the ruling party wings must effectively respond to the needs of the people and adhere to the party constitution.
He was addressing ZANU PF Politburo members at the party’s headquarters in Harare this Wednesday.
The ruling ZANU PF party convened a politburo meeting following the participation of its leadership at the Liberation Movements Summit held in South Africa at the weekend.
It also comes a few days before the hosting of the Heroes and Defence Forces Days, while preparations for the annual National People’s Conference slated for Manicaland Province are at an advanced stage.
“We must re-assert ourselves and deepen the state of national consciousness, particularly among youth. Leagues of the Party and respective Departments must appropriately sharpen strategies that enable us to effectively respond to the ever-shifting needs of our people. As we do so, however, our colossal mass Party, ZANU PF, must never compromise on its Constitution, values, principles and ideology.
“The ultimate price paid by all those who waged the protracted armed liberation struggle and those currently defending it, should be honoured. This is the bedrock upon which we must continue to build greater resilience and a stronger governmental system for a modern and industrialised economy. We must never be lethargic in our sacred duty to retain power for the purposes of advancing the aspirations of the people of our great, motherland, Zimbabwe,” he said.
Cde Mnangagwa rallied members to safeguard, protect and promote the party while growing membership across the country.
“ZANU PF continues to stand as a towering revolutionary mass Party that can be trusted by the people of our motherland, Zimbabwe. Our roots are spreading far and wide in both rural and urban areas, while our ideological solidarity is inspiring others beyond our borders.
“Our political seeds are sprouting, with a marked increase in grassroots membership across all leagues of the Party. There is no room for complacency. Strengthening the Party, sharpening our mobilisation techniques and wholeheartedly serving our people, should be the day-to-day duty of every member,” he added.
Government has rolled out various empowerment programmes towards transforming livelihoods across the country.
“There is no room for opportunism and self-centred cadreship in our Party. Our policies, programmes and projects must benefit the majority. At the Government level, we are scaling up critical economic enablers with regards to energy, water, transport infrastructure, as well as a conducive regulatory environment, for further macro-economic growth.
“Our Party membership must be made aware and organised to take up numerous opportunities in the manufacturing, mining, agriculture and tourism sectors, among others. Focus in our agriculture sector should equally shift towards agro-industries and value addition, with market driven production, inclined towards exports,” said the President.
Preparations for 2025/2026 summer cropping season are already in progress, with efforts being out towards ensuring high output.
Victories in Masvingo and Mashonaland East provinces in the recently held by-elections were noted with calls to continuously mobilise for the party.
