Newly crowned national Zimdancehall King, Ngwere Lite, also known as Silent Skiller, is making waves on social media, with the 21-year old confident his victory is a new dawn for his career.
Born Conold Muzarawetu, Ngwere Lite’s lyrical prowess and style of chanting has gained him fans across the country, earning him the title “Zimdancehall King”.
The 21-year-old chanter from Harare’s Warren Park D suburb, who sounds more like the original Ngwere, Silent Killer, says he is taking a leaf from the best.
“I admire Silent Killer a lot and he inspired me to be a chanter. I started singing in 2017, but got a chance to start recording this year. I believe this is the start of my career,” Ngwere says.
With drug and substance abuse associated with the Zimdancehall genre, Ngwere Lite addresses the concerns.
“I don’t do drugs and I am against them. I am actually a church person.”
Surprisingly, the chanter can easily transition from circular music to gospel.
The community is equally proud of Ngwere Lite’s achievements, with some residents saying they did not expect that he would win, while others said they are happy they now have a celebrity in their area.
Ngwere Lite has already started dropping hits, with ghetto youths having something to dance to this Christmas.
And as if to prove he can actually flow without thinking too hard, he dropped a little number for this news crew.
