PRESIDENT Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has officially launched the National Resource Mobilisation Campaign aimed at raising US$77 million to support Zimbabwe’s intensified war against drug and substance abuse, calling on citizens, institutions, and development partners to rally behind the nationwide effort.
Speaking at State House during a high-level engagement with government officials, civil society, the private sector and faith-based organisations, the President outlined the urgency of the crisis and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ending what he described as “a growing public health, social and security threat.”
The President highlighted progress made since the launch of the Multi-Sectoral Drug and Substance Abuse Action Plan on June 26, 2024, which is built on seven strategic pillars, supply reduction, demand reduction, treatment and rehabilitation, community reintegration and psychosocial support, media and communication, legal and policy reform, resource mobilisation and economic strengthening.
He said the campaign’s goal is to capacitate each of these pillars through collaborative efforts that involve all sectors of society.
