ZANU PF’s Matabeleland North Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) has intensified preparations for National Cell Day, with party leaders and members reaffirming the central role of grassroots structures in membership mobilisation and organisational strength.

The PCC met in Lupane on Friday, bringing together provincial leaders, district officials and party members to review strategies aimed at consolidating support and strengthening structures across the province ahead of the nationwide commemorations scheduled for June 27.

Delegates underscored the importance of active and functional party cells, describing them as the foundation of membership mobilisation, verification and community engagement.

“We have active cells in our ward and village, and we are working closely with members daily. Cells are the roots of the party. We are committed to strengthening these structures and ensuring that every cell remains functional and visible in our communities. Cells are the backbone of the party,” a party member said.

Another member said National Cell Day provides an opportunity to assess the party’s organisational strength and membership base.

“Cell Day is a day that helps us to evaluate the Party’s strength in terms of membership, as well as predicting the number of votes we have. It is a day that we charge each other on the need to continuously support the party.”

Provincial leaders urged members to keep party structures active and membership records up to date as preparations gather momentum.

ZANU PF Matabeleland North Provincial Political Commissar, Cde Robson Ncube said the exercise is critical for maintaining accurate membership records and strengthening grassroots structures.

“Cell Day is a day when we take stock of our membership. It is also a day when we clean the cell register by removing deceased members, while new members are also registered. This day is key in measuring the strength of the party in terms of membership numbers.

“Cells are the engine room of our party. I encourage all members to keep our cells vibrant, active and well-organised because strong cells translate into a strong party. As we prepare for Cell Day, let us keep cell records up to date and follow up on members.”

National Cell Day forms part of ZANU PF’s broader strategy to strengthen grassroots structures, improve membership management and enhance mobilisation efforts across the country.
