CONSTRUCTION works on the Masvingo Trumpet Interchange are progressing well and are expected to significantly ease traffic congestion in the city.

The project is being complemented by the Mucheke Bridge, which is nearing completion and will further improve traffic flow and connectivity in the area.

This will see Masvingo urban having a major facelift as the government intensifies efforts to transform the city into a modern urban gateway.

The near completion of the new Mucheke Bridge, part of the Masvingo Trumpet Interchange, marks a significant milestone in improving traffic flow and road safety.

Motorists and residents have welcomed the development.

“We are happy with what is happening here at Mucheke River. As we all know, the number of vehicles has increased, and during peak hours, it has been very difficult to use one bridge. Once the new bridge is opened, traffic flow will improve significantly,” Victor Chireni said.

“We want to thank the Government for modernising our roads. We are looking forward to a new Masvingo, and we are already seeing development with the near completion of Mucheke Bridge. This will make movement much easier for everyone. Again, another work is progressing well on the other side of the road where they are working on Chimusana Bridge,” Precious Siya said.

“Given the importance of this road, its upgrade and the Masvingo Trumpet Interchange will attract investment into our province and improve business opportunities,” Jimias Chademuriya said.

In an interview with the ZBC News Crew, the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Masvingo Province, Honourable Ezra Chadzamira, expressed satisfaction with the pace of work.

“We are pleased with the progress we are witnessing here, especially at Mucheke Bridge. Our engineers are on the ground and have assured us that by next week, the bridge will be open to traffic. We are confident because of the quality of work we have seen. We are also happy that most sections between Mwenezi and Masvingo are now open, with less than 40 kilometres remaining,” said.

The Masvingo Trumpet Interchange is among the many road rehabilitation projects being undertaken by the Second Republic to stimulate investment and support the devolution agenda.
