MASVINGO province has denounced individuals and groups that are inciting citizens to participate in illegal demonstrations and unlawful activities.
Speaking at a press briefing in Masvingo, the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honorable Ezra Chadzamira said the illegal demonstrations being planned undermine the prevailing security, peace, and stability in the province and the country at large.
“We have noted with deep concern efforts by individuals and groups particularly through social media postings that incite peace-loving Zimbabweans to participate in the March 31st demonstrations and other unlawful activities. Please note these activities threaten the stability and security of our Province and the nation at large,” he said.
“The illegal acts being mobilised undermine the prevailing security, peace and stability in the province. I want to take this opportunity to assure the peace-loving people of Masvingo Province and our visitors that security services are on high alert to ensure the sustained safety and security of the members of the public. Thus, everyone should feel secure and continue engaging in their socio-economic activities in pursuance of Vision 2030.”
The call for demonstrations has been denounced by progressive stakeholders with government saying those involved will face the full wrath of the law.
