MASHONALAND WEST – ZANU PF national leadership has endorsed the cell verification process underway across Mashonaland West Province, describing the process as key in building a credible and accurate membership database.
The process, currently underway across the province’s wards and districts, has seen significant turnout, with party members, both long-standing and new participating enthusiastically in the grassroots exercise.
ZANU PF Politburo member Cde James Makamba said the verification process reflects the party’s commitment to transparency, discipline, and organisational integrity.
“This process is important for us because it allows us to account for every member and ensure that our data is accurate and up to date. So far, everything has been peaceful and very well organised.”
ZANU PF Mashonaland West Provincial Chairperson, Cde Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, praised the high turnout, affirming the party’s strong grassroots presence.
“Quite impressive is the fact that our members have turned out in numbers, reaffirming the party’s grassroots support. As it stands, we are rushing against the two-day target but if we fail, then we will finish on the third day.”
Mashonaland West Provincial Political Commissar, Cde Joachim Yotamu, commended members for their orderly participation, emphasising the strategic importance of the process.
“This is not just about numbers, it is about building a solid foundation for the party based on verified and active structures.”
The verification programme is being held across wards and districts, targeting existing members while also welcoming new members, particularly young people.
“Transparency is all we were calling for because at times people could not find their names when they wanted to participate in party business. I am happy to be part of this process,” a member said.
“As always, women have turned out in huge numbers. This shows our commitment to the party. We have also been given an opportunity to register our sons and daughters, which means they will not be left behind,” another added.
The cell verification process will culminate in the development of a digital database as the ruling party is warming up to the digitisation of its operations.
