THE ruling ZANU PF party in Mashonaland Central province has unanimously recommended that President Emmerson Mnangagwa remain in office until 2030 to ensure the fulfilment of developmental projects being pursued under Vision 2030.
The ZANU PF Mashonaland Central Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) meeting, which convened in Bindura this Wednesday, saw members sharing their resolutions for the forthcoming Annual National People’s Conference.
All eight districts recommended that President Mnangagwa stay in office until 2030.
“As Mazowe district we call for the expedition of resolution number 1 of 2024 as our first resolution,” a party cadre said.
“As the Shamva district, we resolved that President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa remain in office until 2030 to fulfil his vision,” a member of the party said.
“Mbire district’s first resolution is that His Excellency Cde ED Mnangagwa remain in office beyond 2030 because he is doing good works and to fulfil the vision 2030 project,” another ZANU-PF member said.
“As the Muzarabani district, our resolution number 1 is that H.E. leads the country until and beyond 2030 to see the fulfilment of his vision,” another party cadre added
ZANU PF Mashonaland Central Deputy Secretary for Administration Cde Costain Sabao summarised the 19 resolutions consolidated from across the province.
“In recognition of the exceptional servant leadership qualities by the President and First Secretary of ZANU PF, His Excellency Cde Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa and consistent with resolution number 1 of the 2024 annual people’s conference, we hereby re-echo the same sentiments calling for the extension of the term of office of the President from 2028 to 2030,” he said.
ZANU PF Politburo member, Cde Kenneth Musanhi said it is a pre-requisite to gather views from the grassroots before each Annual National People’s Conference.
“We received a directive from the national chairman to start preparing for the annual national people’s conference by making our resolutions, so I passed the news to the districts, and the inter-districts were held, so we had the resolutions coming out. It is the norm that each time we go to a conference, we come up with resolutions and those come from the districts, so this meeting was meant to consolidate them,” he said.
Meanwhile, a staunch Citizens Coalition for Change supporter and Guruve businessman, Isaac Mupinyuri, has defected to ZANU-PF.
“Since I said I want to return to ZANU PF I was welcomed by the party leadership. I didn’t face any problems, no one coerced me to come, and those who come from Guruve know me. I am a hard worker,” he said.
ZANU-PF Mashonaland Central Chairperson Cde Kazembe Kazembe warmly welcomed the former opposition party supporter.
“I want to thank you, Cde Mupinyuri, you made a good decision, ZANU-PF is a made party, and we can all fit into it. I urge all Cdes to welcome him and focus on the future and not the past,” he said.
War Veterans, the Youth League, and Women’s League also delivered their recommendations, with the Number One resolution being for President Mnangagwa to remain in office until 2030.
