Mambare’s heroics shatters Mapeza

Story by Raynald Ngwarati

FORMER Warriors forward, Masimba Mambare’s heroics were the highlight of Saturday’s low scoring Premier Soccer League action as no team managed to clinch maximum points.

Saturday served a Deja vu moment for yesteryear’s star, Masimba Mambare who found himself on the scoresheet again after years of being away from the game as he masterminded a ferocious comeback from Bikita Minerals.

The once-evergreen striker justified why Bikita Minerals FC sought for his signature as he scored a brace to send shivers down Norman Mapeza’s spine as FC Platinum failed to hold on to a two-nil second half lead at Mandava.

The Saul Chimunuka coached side who are known for their unending ambitions made life harder for FC Platinum in the last 15 minutes of the match to force a two-all draw in the first battle of ‘The Miners.’

There was not much to take away from the other four fixtures as they all ended in goalless draws.

Arenel Movers could only pick a point at Nyamhunga when they faced ZPC Kariba, similar fate for new boys Chegutu Pirates who were away to Yadah and Green Fuel who hosted Herentals in Chisumbanje.

Meanwhile the Premier Soccer League match day seven continues tomorrow with last season’s runners up Manica Diamonds welcoming eighth placed CAPS United to Sakubva, while Hwange will be hosting champions Ngezi Platinum at the Colliery.

Two fixtures are slated for Bulawayo as Bulawayo Chiefs face surprise packages Simba Bhora at Luveve and crosstown at Barbourfields, log leaders Highlanders face 2015 champions Chicken Inn in a hyped Bulawayo derby.

Week seven action will also see Dynamos clashing against Tel One at Rufaro Stadium
