CHICKEN Inn are banking on the return of experienced midfielder George Majika to revive their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League campaign as they target a strong finish to the season.
Majika’s return has handed the Gamecocks a timely boost as they seek to build momentum in the second half of the campaign.
A member of the club’s 2015 title-winning squad, Majika has risen through the ranks from ball boy to first-team regular, becoming one of the club’s longest-serving players.
The left-footed midfielder missed the opening half of the season through injury but has now regained full fitness.
He marked his return with a man-of-the-match performance in Chicken Inn’s victory over Manica Diamonds at the weekend, opening the scoring in a display that highlighted his value to the team.
Chicken Inn Head Coach Tonderai Ndiraya welcomed the midfielder’s return.
“George is back in full force. He missed out due to injuries, but we are happy he is back. He is a fighter, and we are confident he will help the team do better in the remaining games,” he said.
Meanwhile, the mid-season transfer window continues to generate speculation, with several Zimbabwean players based in South Africa’s Betway Premiership linked with moves back home.
Former Warriors duo Edmore Chirambadare and Knox Mutizwa are among those attracting interest. Chirambadare is reportedly being linked with a return to Chicken Inn, while Triangle United are said to be keen on signing Mutizwa.
