England one win from first World Cup final since 1966

ENGLAND moved within one match of their first FIFA World Cup final since 1966 after defeating Norway 2-1 to set up a blockbuster semi-final against defending champions Argentina.

England kept alive hopes of winning a second World Cup title with a resilient quarter-final victory over Norway.

They will now face Argentina, who strengthened their title defence with a hard-fought 3-1 win over Switzerland to secure a place in the last four.

The other semi-final will see European heavyweights Spain take on France as the race for the 2026 FIFA World Cup title enters its decisive stage.

The semi-finals will be played on July 15, followed by the third-place play-off on July 18, before the FIFA World Cup final on July 19.
