DYNAMOS have thrust themselves back into the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title race after extending their unbeaten run to 11 matches, despite a campaign marked by off-field challenges.
Few gave the Harare giants much chance before the season began following internal turmoil, including a public fallout with coach Genesis Mangombe before his departure by mutual consent, and a squad many believed lacked the quality to challenge the league’s financial heavyweights.
However, Dynamos have rediscovered the belief and resilience that have long defined the club.
The Glamour Boys are unbeaten in their last 11 league matches, recording six wins and five draws. Three successive victories, including the completion of the remaining 14 minutes of the abandoned fixture against Hardrock, have lifted them to 40 points.
Although they remain nine points behind leaders Scottland and two adrift of second-placed Hardrock, momentum is firmly on their side.
Their attacking form has also improved. Dynamos have scored 35 league goals this season, just two fewer than Scottland and one behind Hardrock.
Ghanaian striker Frank Agyemang has spearheaded the revival with 11 league goals after scoring only once last season.
Midfielder Shadreck Nyahwa has provided stability in the centre of the park, Isaac Landu has anchored the defence, while Moses Demera has made valuable contributions from the bench.
More importantly, Dynamos are no longer dependent on a single player. Goals are coming from across the team, with a united squad displaying the collective spirit that made DeMbare Zimbabwe’s most successful club.
In a season dominated by ambitious and well-funded sides such as Scottland, Hardrock and Ngezi Platinum, Dynamos are proving that history, culture and belief remain powerful assets.
With their resurgence gathering momentum, the Glamour Boys have positioned themselves to play a significant role in this season’s title race.
