Highlanders face stern test as FC Platinum visit Barbourfields

BULAWAYO giants Highlanders and former champions, FC Platinum will clash in a highly anticipated Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match-day 11 encounter at Barbourfields Stadium this Sunday.

The tension between the two sides is palpable, fuelled by an explosive past.

In 2022, their back-to-back matches were abandoned due to violence and hooliganism.

Last season, FC Platinum dominated the tie, winning both home and away.

Highlanders will be looking to avenge those losses and maintain their winning streak after a 2-0 victory over Yadah last week.

On the other hand, FC Platinum have been stuck in a draw-filled spell, with their last match ending goalless against Ngezi Platinum in a thrilling Platinum derby.

The visitors sit eighth with 14 points, while Highlanders are fourth with 17 points.

Meanwhile, match-day 11 fixtures are action-packed, with other exciting matches including the clash between log leaders MWOS and TelOne at Ngoni stadium.

Kwekwe United take on Chicken Inn at Bata, while Green Fuel face off Manica Diamonds at the Green Fuel Arena.

CAPS United will be up against Herentals at Rufaro Stadium, Ngezi Platinum welcome ZPC Kariba at Baobab stadium and Bikita Minerals entertain Yadah at Gibbo Stadium.

On Sunday, new boys Scottland and champions Simba Bhora will clash at Rufaro Stadium and Triangle lock horns with Dynamos at Gibbo stadium.
