CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League newcomers Hardrock have strengthened their squad with the signing of experienced goalkeeper Martin Mapisa following his departure from MWOS after contract talks failed.
Mapisa, a former Dynamos shot-stopper, spent one season with the Norton-based MWOS after leaving the Harare giants two years ago. His arrival is seen as a significant boost for the ambitious Kwekwe-based side ahead of their debut top-flight campaign.
The Warriors trialist becomes the second player to move from MWOS to Hardrock in the current transfer window, joining winger Nigel Matinha, who has also completed a switch to the newly promoted club.
Elsewhere, transfer activity continues across the league, with midfielder Melikhaya Ncube leaving Highlanders to join Bulawayo Chiefs, who are making a return to the Premier Soccer League.
Ncube is the fifth player to be unveiled by the Bulawayo side, following the signings of defender Elvis Moyo, midfielders Kelly Shiyandindi and Dwayne Musona, and striker Brian Muza, as Chiefs bolster their squad ahead of the new season.
Meanwhile, defending PSL champions Scottland have announced the departure of their Chief Executive Officer Ronald Moyo. The club confirmed the development in a statement, signalling changes within the club’s administrative structure.
Scottland have also released midfielder Fredrick Ansa Botchway, whose time at the Mabvuku-based outfit was hampered by injuries during the past season.
With the new campaign approaching, Premier Soccer League clubs continue to reshape their squads and technical teams as preparations gather pace.
