Govt committed to digitalise all departments to improve efficiency

THE Second Republic’s commitment to digital transformation continues to score major milestones amid revelations that most key government and quasi-government departments have digitalised their operations.

The Ministry of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, and its partners this week took its ‘digitalise Zimbabwe’ expo campaign to the border town of Beitbridge where various departments showcased milestones achieved after the adoption of digital technology in operations.

With entities like Zimborders, Immigration and Zimra mandated with clearing more than 12 000 people at the Beitbridge border post daily, the adoption of digital technology has enhanced efficiency.

The local leadership is convinced that the strides made in digitalising the province are critical for attaining Vision 2030.

“Let me take this opportunity to appreciate what the ministry of ICT is doing, you are walking the President’s talk of leaving no one and no place behind,” Beitbridge East legislator, Honourable Albert Nguluvhe said.

“The expo is not just an event, it is a catalyst for change and an opportunity for us to showcase local talented innovation, foster partnerships and business growth to empower the youth with digital skills and Zimbabwe’s potential as a digital hub,”  the Minister of State For Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Evelyn Ndlovu added.

The minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Honourable Tatenda Mavetera who was officiating at the expo reiterated the government’s commitment to improving efficiency in service providers through encouraging adoption of digital technology.

“This expo provided a platform to showcase the latest technology that can be used to enhance development. This will spark digital transformation in the country and enhance service delivery and efficiency.”

The Ministry of ICT is hosting the Digitalise Zimbabwe ICT roving expos, within rural and urban Zimbabwe.
