THE Government has commended young people across various sectors of the economy for responding to the national call to participate actively in the country’s development agenda.
Youths are increasingly becoming central players in Zimbabwe’s growth trajectory, with several pacesetters being recognised at the Mashonaland Central Youth Association Empowerment Forum Awards held in Bindura.
Engineer Ryan Dhokwani, one of the honourees, expressed gratitude for the recognition.
“I’m honoured to receive this award. I was recognised for community impact for the work I’m doing in Shamva,” he said.
Also recognised was dancer Farai Meki, who highlighted that this was his second accolade within a week.
“It is an honour for me to receive this award. This is my second award this week because Legacy TV recently honoured me for my work in the arts and dance industry,” he noted.
Among the 105 recipients were businesspeople, politicians, and war veterans.
“I’m elated to receive this honour for the work I’m doing in Mazowe constituency working with women and in the Central Committee,” said Central Committee member Cde Cathrine Chirongwe.
Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Christopher Magomo, emphasised the importance of youth in national development.
“Youths play a pivotal role in the national development matrix of the country and form a key constituency. Utilising the whole-of-government approach, it is our collective responsibility to help them unlock their full potential and achieve their aspirations,” he said.
The ceremony also saw the Zimbabwe Miners Federation, represented by Mr Tichaona Muzanenhamo and Ms Christine Munyoro, present special honours to the First Lady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa and Chief Negomo for championing socio-economic development initiatives across the country.
