KNOWLEDGE Musona delivered a masterclass in finishing as Scottland maintained their grip on top spot with a commanding 2-0 victory over Hardrock in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Matchday 18 encounter at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.
The smiling assassin opened the scoring in the 21st minute following a sweeping team move that showcased Scottland’s patient build-up play.
Walter Musona’s pinpoint corner delivery was flicked on by Khama Billiat, allowing Knowledge to steer home from close range.
The striker doubled his tally and the lead on the stroke of half-time, reacting quickest after Billiat’s thunderous effort cannoned off the crossbar.
Musona made no mistake with the rebound, rifling a cracking shot into the net to send the visiting supporters into delirium.
The brace takes Musona’s season tally to seven goals, underlining his status as one of the division’s most lethal marksmen.
Walter Musona and Billiat were instrumental throughout, pulling the strings in a top-of-the-table encounter that Scottland dominated from start to finish.
The victory leaves Scottland perched at the summit with 37 points, their title credentials growing stronger with each passing week.
For Hardrock, the defeat serves as a harsh lesson as they dropped to third on 32 points after CAPS United leapfrogged them into second place with 33 points.
They call it Scottland, but today it was Shotland as Knowledge Musona, the smiling assassin, proved he knows exactly where the net lives.
Two goals, a brace for Mabviravira, and a season tally now sitting at seven.
Scottland stay top on 37 points, with Walter Musona and Khama Billiat pulling the strings in the decisive moments.
As for Hardrock, class was in session and they failed the test. Come the second leg, they will be looking to pass paper two.
“It was a good game. Both teams played very well and what I liked most is that it ended without violence. It was a peaceful match,” said football analyst Joseph Nkani.
“We are happy as Scottland supporters. I think it is now five games without dropping points. The team is playing very well,” said a Scottland supporter.
“It happens in football. There is winning and losing, and today it was not our day as Hardrock. We will do our homework to remain very competitive,” said a Hardrock supporter.
Meanwhile, in other matches, Highlanders cruised to a 2-1 victory over Bulawayo Chiefs at Barbourfields Stadium, while ZPC Kariba and Triangle settled for a 1-1 draw. Agama and CAPS United shared the spoils in a goalless draw at Wadzanai Stadium.
