THE Second Republic continues to post huge successes in promoting the industrialisation drive with landmark achievements towards improving health care, food security, and infrastructural development.
Under the Second Republic, Manicaland Province has witnessed massive transformation in various sectors such as health, education, and the manufacturing sector, among others.
A government delegation led by the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr Jenfan Muswere was in Manicaland Province this Thursday, where they toured the new Mutare Pharmaceutical warehouse, Victoria Chitepo Hospital that has a new solar system, the refurbished Registry Office, Allied Timbers factory, Mega Market Flour milling plant and the silos being constructed at GMB Mutare.
The ongoing developments have excited residents of Mutare who are appreciative of the second republic’s inclusive development agenda.
“We do thank our President who has spearheaded several developmental projects. Health facilities are being constructed, and this warehouse has been constructed,” said a resident.
“We used to travel long distances to Harare and we can now take our passports here when the office is complete,” another added.
“We are happy that the general hospital has been connected to solar. This will ensure we are not affected by power cuts when giving birth,” another resident said.
Dr Muswere reiterated the government’s commitment to promoting national development, including improving the health delivery system.
“This massive infrastructure is going to warehouse our pharmaceuticals. Electronic management utilisation of drug prioritisation will be identified through the Pharmaceutical electronic management system. The construction of this huge warehouse testifies that the government treats health as our wealth.”
On strides to promote industrialisation, Dr Muswere confirmed that President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to commission the multi-million dollar Mega Market Flour milling plant in the near future.
He said, “The production level of around 300 metric tonnes per day ensures that more than 1 000 employees are well taken of in terms of employment and feeds in other economic ecosystems. It also attests to the able leadership of President Mnangagwa. Three years ago, he led the groundbreaking ceremony here and now we have a plus 70 million-dollar empire which speaks to the Zimbabwe Industrial growth strategy and local content strategy which is promoting local production.”
Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza said the huge developments will increase the provincial gross domestic product.
“The timber industry contributes a lot to our gross domestic product. Our GDP increased from 2020 to 2023 by four point three percent. For 2025, we had targeted our GDP to grow by 6 percent, but we can tell before the figures are there that we have surpassed that target. This is due to the coming in of the new dispensation led by President Mnangagwa where industry throughout the country is on a rebound.”
Meanwhile, the media tour, which started in Mutare, ended in Makoni, where huge investments towards irrigation development have been made by the Second Republic.
