A Fort Rixon man in Matabeleland South, allegedly murdered his two weeks old baby over a paternity dispute.
What began as a domestic disagreement ended in horror when Israel Chisongo, the accused, reportedly engaged in a heated argument with his wife, Martha Moyo, accusing her of infidelity and denying paternity of the child.
It is alleged that during the confrontation, Chisongo forcefully took the baby from the mother’s arms, laid the child on the ground, and proceeded to stab and dismember him, cutting through the infant’s stomach.
The gruesome act has left the Fort Rixon community in shock, with villagers struggling to come to terms with the heinous crime.
Matabeleland South Police Spokesperson, Inspector Chiratidzo Dube, confirmed the incident and the arrest of the suspect, who is currently in police custody pending further investigation.
