FARMERS across the country who adequately prepared for the 2024/25 summer cropping season under the Pfumvudza/Intwasa programme are now sharing their success stories, highlighting the effectiveness of the initiative.

Mrs Sitshengisiwe Moyo, a dedicated farmer from Tshitashawa village in the Tsholotsho district, is thriving under the Pfumvudza/Intwasa programme.

She is successfully cultivating plots of pearl millet, groundnuts, and roundnuts. Other farmers in the area are eager to learn from Mrs. Moyo’s smart agricultural practices.

“We are here in this field of Mrs Moyo, she has really done wonders, I used to see this field from afar and just admire but today I have the chance to get in and learn,” a neighbouring farmer said.

Mr Leonard Munamati, the Acting Chief Director for Agricultural and Rural Development Advisory Services, states that a combination of good rains, effective agricultural practices, and government support will ensure food security for everyone.

“As the government, we continue offering support to farmers, and, what this farmer has done is very much recommendable and we urge other farmers to take a leaf from her.”

The Pfumvudza/Intwasa scheme has been identified as a game changer in terms of food self-sufficiency at the household level.
