HARARE giants Dynamos handed Ngezi Platinum Stars their first defeat of the season after coming from behind to secure a 2-1 victory in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Rufaro Stadium this Saturday.
Ngezi Platinum Stars arrived at Rufaro Stadium carrying an impressive unbeaten run of 14 league matches, but Dynamos proved too strong as they brought that streak to an abrupt end.
Madamburo made the perfect start when in-form Praise Machengete continued his fine scoring run, finding the back of the net in the sixth minute to give the visitors an early advantage.
Stung by the setback, Dynamos responded positively and began piling pressure on the Ngezi defence. Their persistence paid off in the 28th minute when Abel Gwatidzo unleashed a thunderbolt that restored parity for the Glamour Boys.
After the break, the contest developed into an entertaining end-to-end affair, with both sides searching for a decisive breakthrough.
That moment eventually arrived through forgotten striker Moses Demera, who announced himself to the DeMbare faithfuls with a neatly taken finish that secured all three points for Dynamos and condemned Ngezi Platinum Stars to their first defeat of the campaign.
Prior to the loss, Ngezi had registered six wins and eight draws, but the defeat means the loss column now finally reads one.
Elsewhere, MWOS and Hardrock shared the spoils after playing out a goalless draw at Ngoni Stadium in Norton.
Matchday 15 action continues this Sunday with a blockbuster encounter between defending champions Scottland and log leaders CAPS United, a fixture that will officially mark the reopening of the National Sports Stadium.
Elsewhere, Simba Bhora face Triangle at Wadzanayi Stadium in Shamva, ZPC Kariba host Chicken Inn at Nyamhunga, while FC Platinum entertain Herentals at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane.
