THE Gutu community ushered in the New Year in spectacular fashion with a vibrant music gala held at Mabhugu Primary School, where song, dance and fireworks brought hundreds of revellers together in celebration.

The event featured a star-studded line-up of local artistes, led by gospel sensation Dorcas Moyo, whose soul-stirring performances set a celebratory and uplifting tone for the night.

She was followed by sungura star Mark Ngwazi, whose energetic set sent the crowd into a dancing frenzy, while performances by the Cheso Boys, Superman Vybz of Pfira Dandy fame, and Chief Hwenje kept the atmosphere electric well into the night.

A 30-minute fireworks display illuminated the night sky, drawing cheers and excitement from attendees of all ages who had gathered for the festivities.

Revellers hailed the event as a unifying platform for the community.

“Today is a great day for this community. As you can see, people from all age groups have come together for this event. We have started the year on a high note with performances from celebrated artists like Mark Ngwazi and Dorcas Moyo,” said one reveller.

Another reveller said the gala provided an opportunity for clean entertainment and social interaction.

“We are delighted to have this opportunity to meet and enjoy ourselves as a community. We thank Honourable Matuke for organising such an event. It allows us to interact and enjoy clean entertainment, which is vital in combating the drug and substance abuse that has become rampant in our communities,” added another.

The gala was organised by the Minister of State for National Security, Honourable Lovemore Matuke, who said the initiative was aimed at bringing entertainment closer to the people, particularly the youth, while fostering unity.

“By organising this programme, I want our young people to see that we can enjoy clean entertainment. It is also an opportunity for us to unite as we celebrate the New Year. We are going to work together as one people this year to improve our livelihoods,” he said.

Earlier in the day, the minister hosted villagers, Government officials and ZANU PF party members at the same venue for New Year celebrations, reinforcing the spirit of unity and shared purpose that defined the day.

The music gala marked a memorable start to the year for the people of Gutu, strengthening community bonds through music, celebration and togetherness.
