Dembare’s scoring drought persists after stalemate with Bosso

THE much-anticipated “Battle of Zimbabwe” between Dynamos and Highlanders failed to live up to expectations, ending in a goalless draw during a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League Matchday 14 fixture at Rufaro Stadium on Sunday.

The highly billed encounter did not produce the fireworks fans had hoped for, as both sides struggled to make any significant breakthroughs, with attacks from either team falling short in the final third.

Dynamos were largely on the back foot for most of the game, frequently resorting to defensive tactics as Highlanders launched several promising advances. However, the Bulawayo giants failed to convert their chances into goals.

With the draw, Dynamos continue to struggle, remaining stuck in the relegation zone with just 11 points from 14 matches.

Despite appointing a new technical team, results have not improved significantly. Head coach Saul Chaminuka has collected only two points from his first three matches at the helm.

For Highlanders, the solitary point against their long-time rivals offers a glimmer of hope in reviving their campaign, which had been faltering after two consecutive losses and only one point in their previous three fixtures.

In another match at Bata Stadium, Kwekwe United relinquished a first-half lead, settling for a 1-1 draw against GreenFuel to conclude Matchday 14.
