Zimbabwe’s top tennis player Courtney Lock and his Indian partner Niki Poonacha made the semi-finals in doubles at the 2025 Delhi Open 2025 tennis tournament this Thursday.
Zimbabwe’s doubles specialist Courtney Lock and his partner Poonacha are through to the last four after a hard-fought victory over Japan’s Shintaro Mochizuki and Kaito Uesugi in the quarter-finals at the DLTA Complex, in Delhi.
The pair won the three-set thriller 6-3, 2-6, 10-5 to move to the semi-finals of the Delhi Open.
The two were ecstatic about their progress.
“It was a great game we played a good first set then the second set wasn’t so good but we rediscovered our groove in the third set and we managed to pull through, I was happy with the way we progressed generally and we are looking forward to the next match,” said tennis player, Lock.
“We have known each other for a long time since we were juniors and we have played together before so the chemistry is there already and we stuck to our game plan,” said tennis player, Poonacha.
Lock and Poonacha will face Great Britain’s Jay Clarke and Johannes Ingildsen of Denmark, the third seeds, in the semis this Saturday.
