THE curtain is coming down on the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, with attention now shifting to the 2025 Soccer Stars of the Year awards.

The selection process is scheduled for Tuesday next week, when a panel of selectors will meet to choose the top eleven performers of the season.

Last year’s winner, Scottland forward Walter Musona, will likely struggle to make it back on the calendar.

However, his current teammate Kelvin Moyo, who has been solid at the back and has never missed a minute this season, has a huge claim.

TelOne’s leading striker, Washington Navaya tops the scoring chart with 17 goals, making him a strong contender for the top prize.

Scottland’s Tymon Machope and Billy Veremu, of MWOS are some of the front runners.

Midfielder Emmanuel Ziocha of Simba Bhora, who enters the race with three goals and 12 assists in 25 matches, has been a revelation despite dipping in form during the last five matches.

Other players in contention include Dynamos captain Emmanuel Jalai and FC Platinum’s Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya.

In the goalkeeper of the year category, Simba Bhora goalkeeper William “Achimwene” Thole leads with 15 clean sheets, while Dynamos shot-stopper Prince Tafiremutsa remains a fans’ favourite, having produced memorable saves that could prove crucial in their survival fight.

The wait ends on Tuesday when the Soccer Stars of the Year are officially announced, honouring the finest performers of the 2025 league season.
