Costa Nhaimoinesu’s Empowering Initiative: Creating Pathways to Success in Czech Republic for Chitungwiza’s Students and Coach

Story by Timothy Kuhamba

I would like to express my admiration for Costa Nhaimoinesu, a former student of Seke 1 High School in Chitungwiza.

It was a privilege for me to attend the same school as Costa and to come from the same neighbourhood in Seke Unit K.

We even worked together at OK Supermarket from 2001 to 2002, with Costa working in the butchery and myself at the cash registers.

Costa Nhaimoinesu’s accomplishments are truly praiseworthy. I vividly recall the moment when our Headmaster, Mr. Agrippa Sora, summoned Costa Nhaimoinesu and Musset Zengeni to address the entire school during an assembly.

It was apparent that our Headmaster recognized their immense potential, as both individuals displayed exceptional football skills at that time.

Musset swiftly ascended to the Zimbabwe premier league and proudly represented the under-23 Warriors team.

Regrettably, Musset’s promising career was cut short due to an unfortunate injury. On the other hand, Costa ventured on a different path and subsequently transferred to Amazulu Football Club in Bulawayo, which is under the ownership of Delma Lupepe.

Nhaimoinesu began his professional career in Zimbabwe, playing for AmaZulu, Masvingo United, and Monomotapa United.

In 2008, he made a move to Europe and joined the Czech club Slezský FC Opava. After a successful spell there, he transferred to another Czech club, AC Sparta Prague, in 2013.

During his time at Sparta Prague, Costa became a key player in the team’s defense, making numerous appearances in domestic leagues as well as in European competitions, including the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

Costa Nhaimoinesu has showcased his skills in 23 Europa League matches and 7 UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds.

Competing in the UEFA Champions League is a dream shared by players worldwide, making Costa’s achievement truly inspiring.

It is particularly remarkable to witness someone from Chitungwiza, someone with whom I shared the same school experience and upbringing, reach such remarkable heights in the world of sports.

Furthermore, Costa’s leadership extends beyond the football field. He holds the distinction of being the first African player to wear the captain’s armband at Sparta Prague.

This not only demonstrates his exceptional qualities as a leader within the game but also highlights his impactful contributions to the community.

Costa’s dedication to both football and his philanthropic endeavours exemplifies his outstanding character.

Costa Nhaimoinesu’s impact extends beyond his accomplishments in football.

He has demonstrated his commitment to the community by establishing the CSPRO Academy, which operates at our former, Seke 1 High School.

Remarkably, Costa has not only supported the academy but also aided his friend Musset Zengeni by appointing him as a coach and assisting him in obtaining coaching certifications.

This act of genuine friendship speaks volumes about Costa’s character.

Through the CSPRO Academy’s Facebook page, we can witness the numerous initiatives organized by Costa. His dedication to providing opportunities for young talents is evident, and he continues to make a positive difference in the lives of aspiring footballers.

As part of the “Fostering Education and Sporting Development Program,” Costa Nhaimoinesu is providing remarkable opportunities for two individuals from the CSPRO Academy.

Brooklyn and Takudzwa, accompanied by head coach Musset Zengeni, have been selected and left Zimbabwe on the 17th of September 2023 for the Czech Republic. Brooklyn, aged 19 and known as “Binso,” will have the chance to showcase his skills and potentially secure a future in Europe if he impresses.

Meanwhile, Takudzwa, nicknamed “Zhano” and aged 17, will have the opportunity to train with AC Sparta Praha’s Under 17 category and participate in cultural exchanges for personal growth.

Head coach Musset Zengeni will also benefit from this program by enhancing his coaching knowledge and education.

He will have the privilege of observing AC Sparta Praha’s youth training sessions, games, and first-team operations, which will undoubtedly contribute to his professional development.

Additionally, the participants will create unforgettable memories, such as attending a live UEFA Europa League match between AC Sparta Praha and Aris Limassol F.C.

Furthermore, they will have the chance to immerse themselves in new cultures, fostering personal development on multiple levels.

Costa Nhaimoinesu shared these exciting prospects on his Facebook page, emphasizing the enriching experiences that lie ahead for Brooklyn, Takudzwa, and Coach Musset.

This collaboration between AC Sparta Praha and CSPRO Academy goes beyond football.

It serves as an inspiration and a reminder to the youths in the ghetto that they don’t need to turn to drugs but can instead participate in programs like CSPRO, where they can find themselves playing at the highest level in Europe.

I believe that sharing your success story and denouncing drug use in our neighbourhood of Chitungwiza will have a profound impact and motivate many youths.

I would be delighted if you could reach out and share your message.

The people of Chitungwiza can relate to your story, and your journey will undoubtedly inspire numerous individuals. May the Lord bless Costa Nhaimoinesu Captain Fantastic.
