Citizens commended for resilience in the face of economic sabotage

Story by Kenias Chivuzhe

ZANU PF is confident of retaining Makoni South Constituency buoyed by progressive developmental projects being spearheaded by the Second Republic in the area and at a national level.

The party is now in full campaign mode as it eyes a resounding victory in the general elections scheduled for the 23rd of next month.

The ruling party descended on Rukweza Business Centre in Makoni South this Saturday, where ZANU PF Women’s League Secretary for Administration Senator Monica Mutsvangwa implored the electorate to resoundingly vote for President Mnangagwa and the ruling party to ensure the continuation of developmental projects under the Second Republic.

“We should jealously safeguard the gains of the liberation struggle. Some are not appreciative of the progressive policies by President Mnangagwa that resulted in national food security. Don’t take for granted the developments that took place under the leadership of the President, he improved power generation capacity he is promoting industrial growth with the agriculture sector flourishing and we need to vote for him to ensure the current development trajectory continues.

“We should not be swayed by those who want to reverse the gains of the liberation struggle. Some come at night promising heaven on earth but have not delivered anything in the past,” said Minister Mutsvangwa.

Minister Mutsvangwa also commended Zimbabweans for their resilience in the face of acts of economic sabotage by the country’s detractors.

“We should not give in to the divide and rule strategies by the enemies of the country to inflict regime change agenda. When we go for elections we need to think deeper. Some fail to take stalk of the progress recorded under the second republic including road rehabilitation and upgrading of power generation. People were not allowed to vote with Smith declaring that not in a thousand years. We conceived democracy and human rights through the armed struggle. There was a bottleneck in education during the colonial era. We appeal for your votes to defend the gains of the liberation struggle. The United Nations opposed the imposition of sanctions but the West imposed them illegally because of the need to advance the regime change agenda.

“I want to thank you Zimbabweans for being resilient in the face of sanctions. Our President says our country should be governed and developed by its people. We need to remain resilient to ensure we continue the development of the country. You should realise that in towns for almost three decades they were voting for the opposition but that has resulted in poor service delivery. The town councils have never lured investments to improve service delivery and further develop our towns.”

ZANU PF Makoni South aspiring legislator Cde Albert Nyakuedzwa is convinced that developments under the Second Republic will propel the party to victory.

“We have 12 wards in Makoni South and in ward 8 our councillor is uncontested. In Ward 17 and Ward 31, irrigation schemes amounting to over 400 hectares have been developed. There were several health centres and bridges some of the progressive works done under the second republic. We want our President to win resoundingly as we have tangible developments under his leadership.

Senator Mutsvangwa donated several items, including bicycles, balls, wheelchairs and laptops at the rally.
