A Chinhoyi-based music teacher and emerging afro-fusion artist, Prudence Muchada, is set to release her debut album this June, marking a significant milestone in her musical career.
Muchada, popularly known as Mama Africa, has gained popularity across Mashonaland West’s provincial airwaves with her hit single Vana and now aspires to break into the mainstream music industry.
The Chinhoyi Technical High School music teacher confirmed that her highly anticipated seven-track album will be officially released in June.
“I am a music teacher by profession, but I have always had a passion for singing beyond the classroom. At the moment, I am performing at corporate events to refine and perfect my live performances as I prepare for the launch of my first album in June,” said Prudence Muchada.
True to her stage name, Mama Africa, Muchada’s music is deeply rooted in African identity and cultural heritage, drawing inspiration from legendary mbira artist Chiwoniso Maraire.
With the decentralisation of airwaves through the establishment of community radio stations, grassroots musicians like Muchada are finding new platforms to showcase their talent and market their music within their local regions.
Her upcoming album is expected to resonate with fans of Afro-fusion music, further cementing her place in Zimbabwe’s music scene.
