CHINA has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to child welfare and the enduring bonds of friendship with Zimbabwe, with the wife of the Chinese Ambassador, Madame Lyu Renhong, describing children as the embodiment of the nation’s future.

She made the remarks during a handover ceremony held at Hossana Love in Africa Children’s Home, where an assortment of goods was donated ahead of the International Children’s Day and the Day of the African Child.

Commending Zimbabwean organisations and caregivers for their relentless dedication, Madame Lyu highlighted the power of resilience among children, reminding them that their destinies are defined not by circumstance but by courage and determination.

“Your circumstances do not define you, your courage and determination do. Study diligently, dream boldly, and never doubt that you hold the power to shape Zimbabwe’s future,” she said.

Madame Lyu encouraged children to value education, cultural exchange, and kindness, emphasising the enduring significance of the China–Zimbabwe relationship.

“Boys and girls, as you grow, remember that the bond between China and Zimbabwe is a treasure to cherish. Learn from one another’s cultures, share stories, and carry forward the torch of friendship. When you succeed and you will succeed, pay forward the kindness shown to you. Build a society where no child is left behind, just as our nations have pledged to do,” she said.

She also underscored the significance of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Zimbabwe, stating that the two nations have built a partnership rooted in mutual respect and shared aspirations.

“We take pride in the remarkable progress we have made in fostering a robust partnership. Looking ahead, we will continue to explore new avenues for further collaboration and mutual benefit, promoting peace, prosperity, and progress for our peoples, together to contribute meaningfully to the community of a shared future for mankind,” she noted.

Madame Lyu described China and Zimbabwe not merely as diplomatic allies but as “brothers and sisters in the pursuit of progress”, drawing comparisons between China’s past challenges and Zimbabwe’s present journey of transformation.

The Chinese Embassy has consistently worked with communities across Zimbabwe on different projects, which Madame Lyu described as bridges of hope.
