CHINA has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening trade and economic cooperation with Zimbabwe, building on the longstanding cordial relations between the two countries.
The commitment was made during a courtesy call by the Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, His Excellency Mr Zhou Ding, on Vice President General (Retired) Dr Constantino Chiwenga in Harare this Monday.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Ambassador Zhou said China remains committed to enhancing economic collaboration with Zimbabwe and expanding mutually beneficial partnerships across key sectors.
He noted that the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries continues to provide a solid foundation for increased trade, investment and economic development.
Ambassador Zhou also highlighted China’s position as Zimbabwe’s largest foreign investor, underscoring the significant role Chinese investments continue to play in supporting the country’s economic growth and development agenda.
The latest engagement comes at a time when economic relations between the two nations are reaching new heights.
Bilateral trade between China and Zimbabwe surpassed US$4 billion last year, marking a record high and reflecting the deepening economic ties and growing cooperation between the two countries.
China remains one of Zimbabwe’s key strategic partners, with cooperation spanning infrastructure development, mining, energy, agriculture, manufacturing and other critical sectors of the economy.
