THE High Court has further postponed the trial of business partners Moses Mpofu and Mike Chimombe after it emerged Chimombe is too ill to stand trial.
Chimombe, who only appeared before court after presiding Judge Justice Pisirayi Kwenda ordered the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services to avail him, had failed to attend court claiming he was ill.
The accused eventually availed himself in the afternoon and the judge postponed their trial to March 17.
The pair’s trial was supposed to start in October last year but failed to do so because of numerous applications made by the defence.
The two are accused of defrauding the government of seven million United States dollars in a botched Presidential Goat Pass-on Scheme.
