Harare businessmen Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu, who are facing charges of fraud involving US$7 million, will be back at the High Court in Harare this Friday for a bail hearing.
The duo’s bail hearing, initially set for the 17 of December, was expedited after their defense team notified the High Court that bail applications must be heard within 48 hours, with appeals resolved within 96 hours, as per legal requirements.
However, Chimombe and Mpofu’s defence was not prepared to argue the matter late last year, hence the request to postpone the bail hearing to this Friday.
Lenient to their plea, the High Court gave the businessmen enough time to prepare.
Chimombe and Mpofu are accused of defrauding the government of more than US$7 million in the Presidential Goat Pass on Scheme.
