FORMER Premier Soccer League champions, Chicken Inn, are preparing for a significant restructuring exercise after a difficult 2025 campaign that has left the club fighting for survival going into the final round of fixtures.
The Bulawayo-based side, league winners in 2015, have endured an inconsistent season marked by nine victories, eleven draws and thirteen defeats. The run has placed them 11th on the log, leaving their top-flight status dependent on the outcome of a high-stakes derby against fellow strugglers Highlanders.
Head coach Joey Antipas, a seasoned figure in domestic football, acknowledged shortcomings in squad planning and recruitment, noting that the club had strayed from its established approach.
“It has been a difficult season for us. I know what went wrong, and we are eager to fix it next season. We lost it during our recruitment process, bringing in players still in their development phase. We need to go back to our usual way of doing things next season,” Antipas said.
The Gamecocks, known for their pre-season bonding tours to Malawi, are now expected to revert to their traditional model after a turbulent campaign that saw them rely heavily on loanees Marlon Mushonga, Issa Sadiki and Lynoth Chikuhwa.
With Antipas keen on rebuilding, Chicken Inn are preparing to lure established names as it attempts to mount a stronger challenge in the upcoming season.
