THE Zimbabwe national men’s cricket team, the Chevrons, have been crowned champions of the ICC T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier this Saturday, after Tadiwanashe Marumani stole the show in a thrilling final against Namibia.
Chasing 168 for victory in the final, Zimbabwe kept their nerves and their wickets led by a classy, unbeaten innings of 74 off 61 balls from Tadiwanashe Marumani.
Marumani anchored the innings with calm authority, guiding Zimbabwe to 171 for three, sealing a seven-wicket win with four balls to spare.
Ryan Burl chipped in with a quickfire 26 off just 12 balls, and the duo’s unbroken 50-run stand in the final overs proved decisive.
Namibia had earlier posted 167 for six in their 20 overs, but it was not enough to stop a determined Zimbabwe side.
The win sees Zimbabwe finishing the tournament in style after sealing qualification with a seven-wicket victory over Kenya this Thursday.
