The Zimbabwe senior men’s cricket team, the Chevrons got a face saver after a hard-fought two-wicket victory over Pakistan in the 3rd and final T20 encounter at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo this Thursday.
The Chevrons who had already conceded the series going into the last match saved the best for last in a nail-biting finale to the T20 series.
With Pakistan having already clinched the series 2-1, the Chevrons who have looked out of sorts and poor with the bat in recent matches restored lost pride with the consolation victory.
After winning the toss, Pakistan opted to bat and posted a modest total of 132 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
In response, the Chevrons were resilient in chasing down the target finally crossing the line with 133 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, to emerge victorious by 2 wickets.
The Chevrons have struggled against Pakistan, having managed only one win in the One Day International series, before successive defeats in the T20 series.
“Obviously I’m happy they bowled well and they had confidence. By doing the right thing, you need to work hard and from that point of view, it’s nice to get what we want and it was pleasing to see,” Chevrons coach Justin Sammons said.
With the T20 series done and dusted, the Chevrons are shifting focus to the upcoming tour of Afghanistan scheduled for the end of this month.
