CCC nomination process rocked by violence

Story by Bruce Chahwanda, Political Editor

POLITICAL analysts say the chaos that has rocked the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) nomination process has proved that violence runs in the DNA of the opposition outfit.

The opposition Citizens Coalition for Change which has been operating without functional structures failed to conduct its selection process for candidates ahead of the country’s general elections with the process characterised by chaos and violence.

Political analyst Mr Gibson Nyikadzino says the chaotic nature of the process speaks to the absence of proper structures.

“The outcome of what is happening in the CCC candidates selection is not informed by any science of political organisation. The chaotic scenes show that people are dissatisfied with the politics of exclusion by inclusion that the CCC leaders are doing. The lack of structures, values, ideology, and a binding constitution is the reason why this chaos is happening. When compared to ZANU PF, the differences in these processes show the revolutionary party is heading towards victory,” he said.

Another political analyst Takudzwa Gambiza is convinced that the absence of functional structures has left the opposition outfit exposed and on a freefall.

“We have seen chaotic scenes during the nomination process, and this reflects that the opposition outfit is the champion of violence,” he said.

Zimbabwe is heading for general elections this year and calls have been made for a peaceful election process.
