Leveraging on Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been cited as vital in ensuring that Members of Parliament (MPs) can effectively discharge their oversight role.
A 7th Parliament Institutiinal Strategic Plan (PISP) Validation Workshop held in Bulawayo this Saturday saw the Speaker of National Assembly, Advocate Jacob Mudenda emphasising the importance of taking advantage of digital technologies to transform parliamentary processes.
He said, “The whole idea is using digital technologies driven by AI to transform the architecture of parliamentary processes.”
He added that it is important for parliamentarians to be educated about adoption and use of AI so as to be aware of its pitfalls.
“It is important to be equipped with knowledge on how to leverage on AI as it also has its shortcomings like issues to do with cyber-crimes.”
Adoption and use of AI is expected transform how members of parliament reach out to the electorate as well as campaign.
