THE Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) basketball team was off to a flier at the International University Sports Festival in Russia, after beating Argentina’s National University of LaMatanza 21-14 this Monday.
Despite the fact that it was their first match, BUSE were on the offensive from the start as they claimed a crucial victory to gain an early advantage in the group.
Being Zimbabwe’s sole representative at the games, BUSE is part of 16 other universities that are in Russia for the basketball tournament.
Boasting of a strong squad which includes the likes of Innocent Zhomwa Sando who plays for the national team, BUSE will be eyeing nothing short of a top-three finish after dominating tertiary basketball in Zimbabwe for about five years.
The university also won gold at the CUCSA games in Malawi last year.
BUSE will now face Moscow State Academy of Physical Education in their second POOL A three-by-three encounter this Tuesday.
