GOVERNMENT continues its drive to empower young people across the country, with youths from Bulawayo receiving farming equipment ahead of the 2025-2026 summer cropping season.
The empowerment initiative, spearheaded by President Emmerson Mnangagwa, aims to boost agricultural productivity and contribute to Zimbabwe’s vision of becoming an upper middle-income economy by 2030.
The beneficiaries, who received the equipment on Monday, expressed gratitude for the support and pledged to make full use of the implements to enhance food security.
ZANU PF Bulawayo Provincial Youth Chairperson, Cde Freedom Murechu, said the initiative demonstrates the government’s continued commitment to youth empowerment.
“As young people, we are happy with this empowerment. We have benefited under the President’s empowerment drive, from mining to agriculture. We underwent training in Kwekwe, received 10-hectare plots and heifers, and now we are being equipped with tractors. This marks a major step in youth participation in agriculture,” said Cde Murechu.
Bulawayo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Judith Ncube, commended the programme, noting that it comes at an opportune time as the country prepares for the rainy season.
“I want to thank President Mnangagwa for empowering youths. This initiative will help young farmers improve productivity and ensure food security. The donation comes at the right time, especially as we anticipate normal rainfall patterns this season,” she said
The distributed equipment includes tractors and planters, which will be used to enhance mechanisation and efficiency among the youth-led farming ventures.
The programme is part of the Second Republic’s broader efforts to empower young Zimbabweans through agriculture, mining, and other productive sectors, ensuring that they play an active role in the realisation of Vision 2030.
