A 21-year-old man from Binga, Matabeleland North Province, has been sentenced to 560 hours of community service for engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), the two were in a relationship between December 2024 and April 2025, during which sexual intercourse occurred on several occasions.
The offender was initially handed a 24-month prison sentence. However, the court suspended eight months of the sentence for five years on condition of good behaviour, while the remaining 16 months were suspended on the condition that he completes 560 hours of community service.
Under Zimbabwean law, sexual activity with anyone under the age of 18 is a criminal offence, as minors are legally incapable of giving consent.
