Bindura man arrested over possession of human remains

A 28-year-old man has been arrested after being found in possession of human remains, police confirmed on Wednesday.

Alfred Chinjiva was initially detained on Monday at a mine in Bindura for possession of items deemed criminal, including a dummy pistol. Following his arrest, officers conducted a search of his residence at Chipindura Park, where they recovered several human remains.

The findings reportedly included skulls wrapped in various cloths and two containers containing soil mixed with suspected human bones and hair.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) are investigating the matter.

åThis arrest comes amid ongoing national concern over violent crimes, following last year’s multiple murders in Guruve. The prime suspect in that case, Anymore Zvitsva, was arrested last month and is facing over 20 counts of murder.
