ZIFA Northern Region division One outfit Scottland continue to pile the pressure on log leaders MWOS as the ambitious sides battle for promotion to the Premier Soccer League.
The two sides have a lot in common.
They are both well-funded, ambitious and determined to make it to the top flight within the shortest possible time.
They also boast of a number of former PSL stars with Scottland having the likes of Denver Mukamba, Ronald Pfumbidzai, Lincoln Zvasiya and Allan Ghadzikwa.
Mwos are equally strong having enlisted the services of Evidence Tendayi, Livingstone Genti Peace Makaha and Chris Semakweri.
The major difference at this stage of the season is the points tally with log leaders MWOS on 70 while Scottland have 63.
Mabvuku-based Scottland are, however, trying to keep things interesting as they have been piling pressure on the log leaders after collecting maximum points in their last match with a two-one win over Golden Eagles.
Trailing Norton-based MWOS by seven points with eight matches to play, Scottland are hoping that will reduce the gap to four points as they wait for the determination of their abandoned match against Karoi United.
Black Rhinos are still in with a chance as they lie third with 60 points.
Kwekwe United and Tongogara are battling for honours in the Central Region, while Chapungu have an outside chance of snatching the sole promotion ticket.
Kwekwe United are on top with 56 points following their goalless draw with MSU on Saturday, while Tongogara took full advantage to reduce the gap to three points after edging Blanket Mine two-nil.
Former PSL side, Tongogara are now on 53 points, but they have played a game less than Kwekwe United.
Chapungu on 47 points have an outside chance of winning the league with six games to go before the end of the season.
In the Eastern Region, FC Wangu Mazodze have a ten-point gap at the top of the log with eight matches to play before the champions are confirmed.
Former PSL clubs Tenax, Triangle and Mutare City are all putting up a fight but it looks like the Masvingo-based Wangu Mazodze will be promoted if they maintain their current form.
Wangu Mazodze have only one defeat this season and on Saturday they played out to a goalless draw against Rusitu Tigers, their fifth draw this campaign.
The script is almost the same in Southern Region where ZPC Hwange are favourites to get promotion to the top flight after finishing as runners-up on numerous occasions including the last two seasons.
This time around, ZPC Hwange seem to have done their homework as they have a 13-point lead at the top with nine games to go.
ZPC Hwange are undefeated in 21 matches, with 17 wins and four draws.
