Industrial competitiveness dominates discussions at ZNCC Annual Congress

INDUSTRIAL competitiveness, productivity growth and export expansion are dominating discussions at the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) Annual Congress in Victoria Falls as the private sector explores ways to unlock opportunities in regional and continental markets.

Held under the theme, “From Resilience to Competitiveness: Charting a New Path to Sustainable Industrial Growth,” the congress has brought together business leaders and stakeholders to examine strategies for improving industrial performance, attracting investment and strengthening Zimbabwe’s role in regional value chains.

Delegates are emphasising the need for increased access to capital, greater adoption of technology, improved infrastructure and policy consistency to enable local companies to transition from survival mode to sustained competitiveness in export markets.

The discussions come as Zimbabwe pursues industrial modernisation and private sector-led economic growth, with industry leaders arguing that stronger competitiveness will be key to increasing manufacturing output, creating employment and generating foreign currency earnings.

Participants say enhancing industrial efficiency and expanding value-added production will be critical to positioning Zimbabwean businesses to take advantage of opportunities presented by regional integration and continental trade frameworks.

Recommendations emerging from the congress are expected to inform policy interventions aimed at promoting sustainable industrial growth and strengthening Zimbabwe’s attractiveness as an investment destination.
