AT least 24 members of the Air Force of Zimbabwe (AFZ) from Manyame, Josiah Tungamirai, and Jason Ziyaphapha Moyo Air Force bases graduated as Physical Training Instructors at Jason Ziyaphapha Moyo Air Force Base in Chegutu this Friday, with commanders urging the graduates to uphold discipline, maintain high levels of physical fitness, and apply their training to strengthen fitness and mental resilience across all bases.

“This course has equipped us with the skills to improve physical fitness within our units while promoting discipline and mental resilience among fellow members,” graduate, Air Sub-Lieutenant Courage Mdlongwa said.

“The training was demanding but rewarding, and we are ready to apply the knowledge gained to strengthen fitness programmes across our respective bases,” graduate, Air Lieutenant Michael Wakurawarebgwa noted.

The AFZ command element used the occasion to urge members of the uniformed forces to uphold discipline, saying it remains central to the making of a good soldier.

“Physical training in the military is not merely about strength or endurance, it is about building character. It is about instilling discipline, sharpening mental toughness, and preparing soldiers to endure hardships in the most challenging operational environments. The physical training instructor stands at the centre of this transformation. You are not simply trainers of bodies, you are builders of spirit, confidence and fighting capability,” Director General Operations for the Air Force of Zimbabwe, Air Commodore Sakupwanya added.

The newly qualified instructors are expected to enhance physical training standards and reinforce discipline across AFZ bases.
