Story by Jonathan Marerwa in Yinchuan City, Ningxia, China
Tourism bodies and associations in Africa have been called upon to create and develop synergies and co-operate with journalists so as to encourage viable domestic tourism.
These sentiments came out when 14 journalists, 11 from Africa and three from the Asia Pacific region, visited the Zheinbeibao West Cinema Studios in Yinchuan, the capital city of the North Western Chinese province of Ningxia.
The journalists are visiting Ningxia Province under the banner of Travelogue China, an international media exchange activity jointly organised by Global Times Online and the China Public Diplomacy Associate.
Global Times Online Content Operations officer, Jerri Shi, said inviting international journalists to participate in the Travelogue of China series helps in the promotion of communication between Chinese journalists and their counterparts from other parts of the world.
Ms Shi added that journalists should be at the forefront in promoting places of interest in their respective countries.
She revealed that Chinese journalists have created awareness programmes and content on such places as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Yellow River scenic areas, Ningxia Museum, the Western Xia Tombs and many more other places of interest in China.
Ms Shi reiterated that invited journalists should also play a pivotal role in promoting tourism in their respective countries.
The Zheinbeibao West Cinema Studios, also known as the Cradle of Film and Television in China is one of the top ten film and television bases and sites in China and has attracted many well known directors and actors with more than one hundred movies and films having been shot at the site.
Some of the films shot at the site include, A Chinese Odyssey, New Dragon Gate Inn and Red Sorghum.
