ZIMBABWE Cricket (ZC) Vice Chairman Sylvester Matshaka has died at the age of 76.
Zimbabwe Cricket confirmed that Matshaka died at West End Clinic in Harare on Friday following a short illness.
Matshaka joined the Zimbabwe Cricket Board in 2006 before being appointed Vice Chairman in 2015, serving the organisation for nearly two decades.
During his tenure, he was part of the leadership that oversaw Zimbabwe’s return to Test cricket in 2011, championed grassroots development programmes and helped guide the organisation through a period of financial restructuring.
Away from cricket, Matshaka had a distinguished career in education and the civil service. He served as headmaster of Marlborough High School, President of the National Association of Secondary School Heads, Provincial Education Director for Mashonaland East and later Deputy Director of Sport and Culture.
Burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
