A 27-year-old man has appeared in court on fraud charges after allegedly defrauding a home seeker of US$40 000 through a fraudulent property transaction.
Liberty Kamango appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court facing charges of fraud as defined in the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.
It is alleged that Kamango sold a residential property that had already been disposed of to another buyer.
He was granted US$100 bail and was remanded to July 6 this year.
The case adds to a growing number of property-related fraud matters being heard in the country’s courts, underscoring concerns over abuse of trust in real estate transactions.
